Regulation Vibram® UTLO 17Km and UTLINO RUN

non-competitive – 2019 edition

ART 1. ORGANIZATIONS

The UTLO events s.s.d.r.l. organises, during the Vibram® Ultra Trail del Lago d’Orta – UTLO”, 2 non-competitive events that will take place:
Saturday 19 october 2019:

  • UTLINO RUN, reserved to all children between 6 and 12 years old and to the children between 3 and 5 years old accompanied by a parent.

Sunday 20 october 2019:

  • Vibram®UTLO 17Km, reserved to athletes and Nordic walkers

ART 2. – ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

By registering for one of the races, participants hereby wholly accept the rules and regulations outlined in this document. A participant’s registration for the races and subsequent signing of this document obliges the participant to respect these rules and regulations, and expressly exonerates the organizers from all liability, civil or penal, caused by any incident or accident that results in the athlete or the athlete’s possessions sustaining damage or injury during or as a consequence of the events.
The partecipant commits itself to follow the rules of the Italian traffic law (Decreto Legislativo 30 aprile 1992, n.285) and its and subsequent modifications and integrations.

ART 3. PARTICIPATION

Vibram®UTLO 17Km is open to everyone, male and female, aged 18 years or older on the day of the competition.
To enrol the athlete must be in in possession of a valid medical certificate specifically for sports racing activities that doesn’t expires before the 21/10/2019. The non-italian runners must use and fill in the form that they can download here: https://www.ultratraillo.com/wp-content/uploads/medical-certificate-utlo-2019.pdf

UTLINO RUN is reserved to all children between 6 and 12 years old in suitable physical and mental condition to take part in the event activity and to the children between 3 and 5 years old accompanied by a parent. To complete the enrolment a parent must sign a liability disclaimer. The form can be download here: consent form

ART 4. ENROLMENTS

Vibram®UTLO 17Km:
Enrolment is online, using WEDOSPORT, filling in the appropriate form.
The fee payment is possible with credit card, paypal, mybank, satispay using the online service provided by “WEDOSPORT” or, for the UE citizens, with bank transfer (payments of the fee with bank transfer will be accepted only from countries in the EU. For bank transfer received from other countries it’s possible an integrative fee request, for the regularisation of the registration, at the bib number pick-up).
The registration is personal and final, it’s not allowed exchange of bib numbers or names.
The posponement of the registration fee to the next edition is not allowed.
If the athlete is unable to participate and wishes to cancel his registration, he/she must notify the organisers only by e-mail at the following address: registrations@ultratraillo.com.
Procedures for reimbursement are as follows:

  • cancellation by 30/06/2019: reimbursement of 60% of fee
  • cancellation by 31/08/2019: reimbursement of 50% of fee
  • cancellation by 30/09/2019: reimbursement of 40% of fee
  • cancellation after the 30/09/2019: no reimbursement

Reimbursements will be made by 31/12/2019 and it’s subject to deduction of bank charges pertaining to refund processing.
In the case of a runner’s non-chronic osteo-articular or muscular injury, and only in this case, arising after registration and which is not completely curable by the day of the race, the athlete will have to send a medical certificate, released not after the 19/10/2019, with the pathology and the prognosis to this e-mail registrations@ultratraillo.com.
If the medical committee’s decision is favourable, the runner will benefit from a 40% discount for the registrations, for the same or equivalent distance, to the next year event.
Should the race be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control up to 15 days before the races, the Organisers reserve the right to refund 50% of the registration fee paid. This percentage is calculated to enable the Organisers to cover part of the expenses incurred which cannot be recovered.

UTLINO RUN:
Registration can be made on the day of the event starting from 06:00 pm to 06:45 pm.

ART 5. REGISTRATION FEE

The UTLO events s.s.d.r.l is a no-profit sport association; The athletes’ registrations fees are contributions made by the participants, to cover organisational costs. These are not payment for services received.
The registration’s fees for the 2019 are:

VIBRAM® UTLO 17km:

  • € 20,00 until 31/07/2019
  • € 25,00 from 01/08/2019

Registrations will close on 30/09/2019

UTLINO RUN:

  • free

ART 6. BIB NUMBER AND RACE PACK PICK UP

VIBRAM® UTLO 17km:
Every bib is individually handed to each runner on production of:

  • A photographic identity
  • A copy of the medical certificate (if not already submitted or sent)

The race bib must be worn on the chest or the stomach and must be permanently and fully visible throughout the entire race. It must, therefore, always be positioned over any clothing and cannot for any reason be fixed onto the back or a leg (this will allow to speed up the controls during the race). The name and logo of the sponsors must neither be modified, nor hidden.

It will be possible to pick up bibs and race packs according to this timetable:

Sunday 20 october 2019

  • from 06:30 AM till 08:45 AM at the UTLO Village in Omegna viale Giuseppe Garibaldi.

UTLINO RUN:

  • The race bib will be given just after the enrolment.

ART 7. MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

VIBRAM® UTLO 17km:
Each runner must have, with him, at all times during the race:

  • Mobile phone, insert emergency numbers, keep the phone always on, do not mask the number, check to start with fully charged battery and enough call volume
  • Personal drinking cup (at least 15cl). No drinking cup will be available at the refreshments

Recommended equipment

  • Waterproof jacket with hood
  • Gloves

UTLINO RUN:

  • no mandatory equipment needed

ART 8. DEPARTURES

(the timetables can change, the runners will be warned in time)

Saturday 19 october 2019

  • UTLINO RUN – Omegna, Piazza Salera Departure time 07:00 pm

Sunday 20 october 2019

  • Vibram®UTLO 17Km – Pella – Departure Time 10:30 AM. The boat will leave from Omegna at 09:00AM

ART 9. PATH

Vibram®UTLO 17Km:
The path is mostly on trails and dirty roads.
Competitors must follow the race course without short cuts; race course is marked with signs, red tape, reflective material, red flags or orange paint. The move away from the official path, as well as result in expulsion from the race, will be at the sole risk and danger of the competitor.
Competitors must behave in a respectful environment, in particular by avoiding dispersing waste, picking
flowers or harassing wildlife. Anyone, discovered to thrown waste along the path will be expelled from the race and will be subject to the penalties provided for by the municipal regulations.

ART 10. WEATHER

The race will take place in all weather conditions. In the case of particular weather conditions (dense fog, snow or thunder storms), the organization reserves the right to make last-minute changes, even during the race, to the race path in order to eliminate potential hazards or conditions that could cause great hardship for the participants. Any changes will be communicated to the participants and reported to the staff.

ART 11. SAFETY, ASSURANCE, MEDICAL CARE AND CONTROL

Vibram®UTLO 17Km:
Throughout the course, will be positioned, at different points, first aid points. These points will be connected by phone or via radio with the race direction; On the course and in Omegna there will be ambulances, civil protection personnel and medical teams until the end of all the events.
Each runner hurt or in trouble, can call the rescue:

  • going in person to a first aid or a refreshment during the race
  • calling the emergency numbers imprinted on the bib number
  • asking another runner to alert the rescue

Each runner must provide assistance to all people in difficulty and alert the first aid.
Do not forget that the environmental conditions and the type of event can make you wait for rescue longer than expected.
A runner who appeals to a doctor or a rescuer submits himself to his authority and undertakes to comply with his decisions.
All runners must stay on marked trails. The runner, who voluntarily moves away from marked trails, is no longer under the responsibility of the Organization.
The Organization underwrites a third party insurance for the duration of the event.
It is advised that every athlete also take out their own insurance against injuries for the duration of the competition.
Participation is, in any case, under the full responsibility of the athletes, who renounce all recourse against the organisation and the aorganisation team in case of damage, death and any consequences arising after the race.

UTLINO RUN:
Throughout the course, will be positioned staff members, ambulances, medical teams.

ART 12. CONTROL AND REFRESHMENT POINTS (ONLY FOR 17KM)

Throughout the course there will be unexpected control points, where members of the organization will monitor the passage of the athletes.
Only the runners carrying a visible bib number will have access to the refreshment point at the km 6,5 approx.

ART 13. MAXIMUM TIME

The maximum time to finish the race is:

  • Vibram® UTLO 17km: 4 hours
  • UTLINO RUN: 1 hour

ART 14. MODIFICATIONS TO THE COURSE, TIMETABLE

The Organization reserves the right to modify at any time and without notice the path or positioning of the rescue and refreshment points.
In case of adverse weather conditions (heavy rains, high risk of thunderstorms, low visibility), without any possibility of complaint, departures can be postponed or canceled, the route may be changed or the race may be stopped at any point on the track.
The suspension or cancellation of the race will not entitle the athletes to any refund of the registration fee.

ART 15. WITHDRAWALS (ONLY FOR 17Km)

Except in case of force majeure, an athlete must only abandon at a control/refreshment point. They must alert the head of the point, who will invalidate their bib number.
The athlete must keep his invalidated bib number.
In case of the failure to cummunicate a withdrawal and the consequent start of the research, the costs, incurred for the search, will be charged to the athlete.

ART 16. AWARDS (ONLY FOR 17Km

No cash prizes will be distributed.
There will be an award for the first 3 men and the first 3 women that will complete the race.

ART 17. PASTA PARTY (ONLY FOR THE 17Km)

There will be a food service at the end of the race that will be guaranteed until the last competitor. The cost is included in the registration fee, while it will be possible for other people to access buying a proper ticket directly in the food area.
In order to access to the food service the athletes must bring and show to the staff their bib numbers.

ART 18. DECLARATION OF RESPONSABILITY

The runners, for the kids the parent who will sign the liability disclaimer, is entirely responsible for his/her participation in the competition.
By the fact of enrolling he/she, for the kids the parent who will sign the liability disclaimer, releases the Organization from any liability resulting from his/her participation in the event and waives all claims, for damages or losses, against the Organisation, which may arise from the event, even if they result from negligence, and that may occur after the race.
The voluntary enrolment and subsequent participation in the race indicate the full acceptance of these rules and any changes made.
The partecipant commits itself to follow the rules of the Italian traffic law (Decreto Legislativo 30 aprile 1992, n.285) and its and subsequent modifications and integrations.

ART 19. IMAGE RIGHTS

By registering

  • the participants, for the kids the parents who will sign the liability disclaimer, authorize the organization to freely use, without territorial limits of time, still and moving images that portray them when participating in the event.
  • Each participant, for the kids the parent who will sign the liability disclaimer, waives the rights to own their image during the event, as well as waives all recourse against the organisation and its partners for the use of his/her image.
